International Disability Day

International Disability Day

The project is based on our knowledge about disabilities and functioning of disabled people. In the European Union, it is estimated that around 15% of the population is disabled. In Poland, exact statistics on the disabled are not known, it is assumed that every tenth person has some features of disability and in every fourth family there is at least one disabled person. Specialists from our institution are involved in the organization of this day. Individual activities are divided into thematic components on which students will experience or acquire knowledge about various disabilities. We want to raise the co-existing problem of modern man’s life, which is a healthy lifestyle and taking care of a proper and healthy diet.
The purpose of the event is to implement the school community of Primary School No. 25 with Integration Departments. H.Ch. Andersen in Olsztyn, in the specificity and overcoming everyday difficulties by colleagues with various disabilities. Bringing the problem closer requires an interdisciplinary approach, i.e. information from various fields of science. This form allows supplementing knowledge and approaches to disability in the social, humanistic and rehabilitation context.
